2 JANUARY: GOA Inger Kristina Hardinz, a 36-year-old arms instructor with the Swedish Army, was arrested at Goa’s Dabolim airport for carrying a live 5.56mm cartridge while boarding an Indigo flight to Mumbai.


3 JANUARY: WELLINGTON, NEW ZEALAND An intoxicated man was arrested after exposing himself to passers-by near Wellington Airport.


4 JANUARY: LOS ANGELES Assemblyman Tim Donnelly was found to be carrying a loaded gun and ammunition magazine in his carry-on bag as he travelled from LA/Ontario International Airport to Sacramento. He was cited on a misdemeanour charge.


5 JANUARY: LONG BEACH A 49-year-old man was arrested at Long Beach Airport, before boarding a Delta Airlines flight to Salt Lake City, for allegedly having a loaded Kel-Tec P3 AT .38-calibre firearm and two loaded ammunition magazines in his carry-on bag.


6 JANUARY: LONDON


Nezar Hindawi, the 57-year old convicted for trying to infiltrate an IED onto an El Al flight in 1986, had his parole appeal denied. He was originally sentenced to 45 years and is not due for automatic release until May 2016. In November 2009, the Parole Board recommended his early release and deportation to Jordan, but this was successfully challenged through the courts.


11 JANUARY: MINNEAPOLIS Robert M. Lee, 84, was sentenced to 180 days of probation, including 30 days of home confinement, along with 60 hours of community service, in respect of his sexual assault of a health worker on his private jet in September 2010. He was also ordered to pay a $5,000 fine and provide the victim $431.25 in restitution along with a letter of apology. He is reported to have grabbed her breast on the flight to a medical appointment at the Mayo Clinic, where he was being reviewed for a suspected stroke!


13 JANUARY: NEW YORK Kareem Ibrahim, 66, was sentenced to life in prison for his role in the plot to blow up fuel lines at Kennedy Airport.


13 JANUARY: RICHMOND, VIRGINIA James Edward Horne, 68, was found to be carrying a .38 calibre Rossi revolver, loaded


with five rounds, as he went through screening at Richmond International Airport.


19 JANUARY: DALLAS Judith Kenny, a 65-year-old lawyer, was arrested having boarded an American Airlines flight to Houston with a .38 calibre revolver in her handbag. The gun was identified by the X-ray operator, but the woman had picked up her bag and disappeared into the concourse before the bag was pulled aside to be searched. She was identified just prior to take- off after police had reviewed CCTV footage of the screening checkpoint.


30 JANUARY: DALLAS


A man ran onto the Airport Operations Area at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and was arrested.

3 DECEMBER: MACKAY, QUEENSLAND A 44-year-old man and his 39-year-old partner were arrested upon their arrival, off a Jetstar flight, at Mackay Airport. The couple were allegedly in the toilets of the aircraft together and the man had become abusive towards cabin crew when they asked them to return to their seats. The man was charged with disorderly conduct; the woman was released.


3 DECEMBER: THUNDER BAY A WestJet flight, en route from Vancouver to Toronto, diverted to Thunder Bay after a Portuguese passenger smoked a cigarette and then tried to light another one in the cabin. When cabin crew tried to stop him, he attacked them and had to be restrained.


4 DECEMBER: LAS VEGAS Country singer John Rich was asked to disembark a Southwest flight after the crew


decided he was too intoxicated to fly.

5 DECEMBER: PALM BEACH Three women were escorted off an AirTran flight preparing to depart for White Plains, New York following a dispute with a flight attendant who, they claimed, mishandled their cabin baggage. Marilyn Miller and Carol Gray were initially deplaned, followed by Karyn Schorr, who spoke up for them The women (a lawyer, a therapist and a retired travel agent) did not know each other before they boarded. They were not charged and were offered a flight on another airline back to New York paid for by AirTran.


6 DECEMBER: LOS ANGELES The actor Alec Baldwin was asked to leave an American Airlines flight preparing to depart for New York as he allegedly refused to stop playing a game on his mobile phone. He later apologised to fellow passengers for the delay he had caused but criticised the aviation industry for poor service.


9 DECEMBER: DELHI Baljinder Singh, 42, was arrested for allegedly molesting a cabin crew member of Jet Airways on board a flight from Milan to Delhi.


11 DECEMBER: TOKYO A 33-year-old disabled passenger allegedly joked about having a bomb in his bag when a flight attendant tried to help him place the bag in an overhead bin. He was removed from the Hokkaido International Airlines (Air Do) flight before its departure for New Chitose Airport.


11 DECEMBER: HO CHI MINH CITY Quach Thang, 45, harassed a flight attendant on a Vietnam Airlines flight from Hai Phong To Ho Chi Minh City and was later fined VND2 million (US$100).
