2012 VFW PRIORITY GOALS

Reflect Unwavering Support

O

ne of the single most practical ways Ladies Auxiliary members can express “Unwavering Support for

Uncommon Heroes” is by actively calling attention to veterans’ needs wherever legislators can affect them. You belong to the millions of VFW and Auxiliary members who can stand up for these goals in the 112th Congress.

“The VFW voice on Capitol Hill is only

as strong as our membership,” said VFW Director of National Legislative Service Ray Kelley. “When our membership is informed and calling and meeting with their members of Congress, VFW priorities get attention. Stay informed, stay engaged and our priorities will become national priorities,” he said. “By far, the most important issue facing veterans is budgetary. Without a fully funded VA, veterans’ access and quality of care will be limited; resources will be diverted from solving the claims backlog issue; construction projects will grind to a halt; and education and employment resources will be taxed. The VFW is equally concerned about Department of Defense budget cuts. We must be prepared to defend against reductions to military retirement benefits and military quality of life programs that support our active-duty families,” Kelley said.

VA HEALTH CARE

• Insist on sufficient Department of Veterans Affairs funding for the highest quality care to wounded, ill and injured veterans, as well as sufficient funding for VA research into preventing, identifying, and treating Post-
