FUNWAY “The highlight of my trip to Dubai was the accelerated lift ride up to the viewing platform of the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. It dominates the city’s skyline and the spectacular views are similar to being in an aircraft and give a sense of how the city has developed. Coming back down to earth, an
evening stroll in the downtown area and dinner at a restaurant terrace overlooking the amazing fountain displays and light shows rounded off a memorable evening in Dubai. Dubai is not all about spectacular new buildings. I enjoyed seeing the more historic aspects of the city at Bastakhia, where the building’s wind towers show the original technique of air-conditioning in such a warm climate. This area has great little art galleries
and boutique shops, and from there you can cross the lively Dubai Creek on a traditional Abra boat to finish up wide- eyed in the famous Gold souk.”
