TEE IT UP San Diego has a wide variety of golf courses to suit any skill lev-

el and wallet. With over a hundred courses and perfect weather year- round, there is no excuse to not play 18 holes today, or start learning. The 36-hole, award-winning championship golf course, Torrey Pines Municipal, is a must to play in San Diego. It’s a little difficult to get a tee time, but well worth it. Some of our other notable courses in- clude Aviara Golf Course located at the Park Hyatt Resort in Carlsbad. Very uneven lies with difficult greens make for a testing round, (760) 603-6900. And for a fun, scenic course on the water that is still quite challenging, give Coronado Municipal Golf Course a try. For your mon- ey it’s the second best muni in Southern California, (619) 435-3121. So grab your sticks and head on out to the links

HIKE OUR TRAILS

Whether you want a workout, a view of the ocean or something easy for the family, San Diego has the perfect hiking trail for you. Torrey Pines State Reserve (easy). The natural beauty of this state reserve will leave you breathless with the gorgeous views of the Pacific, wild life & plants. Guided nature walks available. (858) 755-2063. Cowles Moun- tain (medium). Located just west of El Cajon, this is a quick trail that of- fers just the right level of difficulty for anyone. From the summit hikers can see Lake Murray below, the ocean, downtown and Mexico. Mount Woodson (hard). In Poway and not for the faint of heart. Beginning at the shores of Lake Poway, the trail greets hikers with a gently sloping, unpaved path, but it soon steepens and rarely shows mercy for the rest of the trek. From the top the views have been known to allow hikers to look over downtown, the Pacific Ocean & Mexico. Mount Woodson may not be for all, but it certainly rewards those who make the effort.
