ADVENTURE BOUND
Diego Bay and a great place to watch the ships pass by. Last but not least, the Imperial Beach Pier, the southernmost pier in California. It is within walking distance of the Mexican border and displays beau- tiful views of the Los Coronados Islands. So for a nice stroll, a great view and maybe a little fishing, head out to the pier and enjoy the day!
SPECTACULAR SUNSETS Sunset – the magical time of day where everything is illuminated
by an orange glow and the sky and clouds put on a colorful display. Here in San Diego we have some of the most memorable sunsets, complete with ocean backdrops. From Imperial Beach to Oceanside, beautiful sunsets are plentiful—just visit your favorite beach or pier, or one of the numerous view restaurants along the coast. If you want to be up above it all for a more expansive view the Cabrillo National Monument or Mt. Soledad are fantastic spots. Tor- rey Pines State Park in La Jolla and the appropriately named Sunset Cliffs Park are beautiful this time of day as the bluffs glow orange. Hike up Palomar Mountain for an expansive view, or ride a hot air balloon. No matter where you are in San Diego you are never too far from a spectacular sunset venue…enjoy the show!
WHAT A VIEW
Mt. Soledad wins the prize for the most peaceful and breath- taking view of San Diego and its coastline. The 822-foot moun- tain oasis, located between La Jolla and Pacific Beach, is topped by the famous 29-foot cross, a Veterans Memorial. Originally a tribute to Korean War veterans, it is now surrounded by more than 2,400 black granite plaques displaying photos, names and stories of Amer- ican servicemen and women from other foreign wars and conflicts. Mt. Soledad has been a popular cycling destination with numerous routes attracting hikers, cyclists, and those in search of the ideal view for decades. Experience a Soledad bike tour beginning under the Mt. Soledad cross taking in the breathtaking view and continuing down the mountain to La Jolla’s famous coastline. The tour is an easy ride, mostly downhill and suitable for riders of all skill levels. La Jolla Kay- ak. (858) 459-1114.
