Spektrum DX7s

Third important Servo menu option is the Reverse setting (above left). The Mix menu (above right) starts with the aileron/rudder mix, and is followed by six more programmable mixes. Both dual rate and expo plus their switches are

set in the D/R-Expo menu (below left). Any of the available switches can be selected to activate a rate. Differential in the Function List (below right) can be adjusted only when certain wing types are used.

movement, and isn’t the menu for adjusting the screen display). And since screen display was mentioned,

it should be noted that the display is pretty visible in the glare of a midday, bright sun, Of course a suitable contrast can be selected in the System Setup. And as I wrote this I discovered another valuable feature that can easily be overlooked and dismissed: Warnings. That’s in the System Setup also and it

usually turns the throttle stick position warning beep on when the transmitter is powered up. First of all, the DX7s’s warning isn’t just the chirp of a beep. It’s got a buzzer as well that doesn’t just grab your attention, it tackles it. Then as I was writ- ing and the transmitter sat there unused for about 3–4 minutes that alarm sounded and got me out of my seat pretty quick. Know how sometimes you can walk away and forget to turn the transmitter off? You’d

have to be deaf or dead not to notice the warning from the DX7s and not do some- thing about it. As with other radios in this class there is

a Mixing menu. But it’s somewhat simpler. Here, the choices start with a conventional aileron/rudder mix but then go directly to the generic Mix 1 up to 6. While there are no multi-point mixes the trims can be set on or off and the switch options to turn the mix on or off are set here as well.

All of the four switches on the left side, with the exception of the 3- position Flap switch (above left), have only two positions. The round push

button is the Trainer/Bind switch. Among the four switches on the right side (above right) is the round dial switch for the proportional seventh channel.
