Fig. 9

In Fig. 4, F6, F7, F2, and F1 have been

glued in place, as well as the landing gear mount. Make sure the landing gear mount is put in the right way, as indicated, and everything can be held together with elas- tics around the outside of the fuselage. In Fig. 5, the center console has been

glued in place, as well as the seat mounts. The plywood battery rail is also glued in

place, although it does not show in the pho- to. Also, the nose piece has been added, al- though it is screwed to F1, not glued. The removable lower engine cover is also screwed in place, with four screws, (one in each corner). In Fig. 6 the landing gear is in place, although just temporarily, with

wheels attached, and the tail control sur- faces are in place, just to see that they fit, not glued yet. Wing: As shown in Fig. 7, the wing struc-

ture is being built on the plans. The ailerons are cut out of the trailing edge material, and also the trailing edge should be notched as shown on the plans. Now, the plans can be laid on a flat building surface and they should be covered with wax paper. First of all, pin down the trailing edge, and note that on the ends there is a small amount of washout built into the ribs, so the end of the trailing edge should be held up to match where the ribs mate to it. The bottom 3⁄16 spar should also be pinned down, and then

all of the ribs can be glued to the spar and the trailing edge. When that has dried, glue in the leading edge (¼-inch dowel), and pin in front of it, but do not remove any of the pins that are holding the wing down yet. As shown in Fig. 8, the 1⁄16-inch balsa strip

has been glued down to the upper front of the wing. Since this piece has to bend quite a bit, I would recommend gluing it first to the rear edge of the piece, and then let it dry. Then, glue along the top of the dowel, and bend the 1⁄16-inch piece down, and hold it in place with pins, and tape if necessary. The end caps have been added in this step also. Trace the F9 fin to the 1-inch block, and of course, extend it clear to the end of the
