Finishing just minutes behind William Weinstein’s
Terremoto to take second in Class C, Jim Marta reflected that “....we had a perfect start at the committee boat and had a great reaching contest with Terremoto in 3-8 knots of wind. It was a great overall finish and thankfully we did not get caught in the strong Colvos back eddy as the wind died. It was a great decision by the Race Committee to end the race at the north end of Vashon as it would prove that Colvos Passage had virtually no wind and a strong ebbing tide.” by Joshua May

died completely the majority of the fleet tried diligently to make the finish. Rachel French aboard Jim Geros’ Last Tango, remarked after the race that “….the Winter Vashon race was a truly great introduction to Puget Sound frostbiting. Overcast skies and strong current led to unique challenges along with the patience it took to aim at the finish line for three hours, just struggling to not be swept back the way we came. The long hours, cold, and darkness only made it that much more rewarding when we finally crossed the finish.”
