It was owned by Monad Railway Equipment Company, and was located in La Miranda, Calif., near Los Ange- les. “I no sooner purchased it than I had to leave it sit for 18 months while I fought to get a building permit to locate the car in Chicago. The city didn’t un- derstand what I was trying to do. At one point they designated it a ‘gas station.’ That would have required 30 feet of open space on all four sides of the car, in case of a fire. I eventually went before the Building Board
