he annual Comms Dealer fi ve-a-side soccer event sponsored by Nine Group saw 10 talented teams do battle in what the Wembley Goals venue described as one of their best ever tournaments.


And in a thrilling end-to-end fi nal Chorley based Elite Telecom made their journey south thoroughly worthwhile by overcoming 2Circles 5-3 and retaining the trophy they won at Leicester last year. But as ever the real winners were children’s charity Sparks who received all the proceeds from the day amounting to a cheque for £3,600. “Nine were delighted to sponsor the event and raise a substantial sum for Sparks. The standard of football was excellent and we look forward to supporting the event next year,” said Nine Group CEO James Palmer. Nine entered two teams but their second team came closest to a fi nal slot beating Westcon and Oak Telecom on their way to a 2-1 semi-fi nal defeat by Elite. Oak Telecom fi nished pointless also losing 4-3 to Alternative Networks, 4-2 to 2Circles and 2-1 to Nine Group II. Oak team manager James Emm said: ”I am proud of my players. They were brilliant. We did everything but win!” Most fl amboyant team of the tournament were 2 Circles who beat Westcon, Nine Group II and Oak en route to the semi-fi nal which saw them overcame a plucky CAEuk team 2-1. Top scorers were the eventual winners Elite who beat Ring 2 Conferencing 5-1, Olive Communications 4-1, CAE UK 3-0 and Nine Group I 4-1.


Jamie Harrison of Elite and Simon Beazley of 2Circles were judged top players of the tournament.
