groove (right) along which the frame is to be folded is filled with solder to reinforce and stiffen the joint.

It is especially important for these kits, as there are only a few English-lan- guage hints as to what the parts are

and where they go. Be sure to only cut parts from the fret when you need them for the next step in construction. The

The completed sideframe (left top) includes the journal, pedestals and springs. The electrical connection tab is bent upward. The footplate (above) is folded and rein- forced with solder and the insulated frame glued in place. The wheel wiper made of phosphor bronze wire is soldered in place on the frame. Both frames are installed on the footplate (left), along with the motor. The electrical connection tabs are bent up- ward and protrude through the footplate.

kit is to be assembled by soldering and using glue.

I cleaned the surface of each etching with a fiberglass scratch brush to remove oxidation or other contamination which might interfere with a good solder or glue joint. I recommend wearing disposable latex gloves when using one of these brushes since the fibers can stick in your skin and cause irritation.
