THE TAUCK CIVIL WAR EVENT
FEATURING A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO MEET KEN BURNS
RESERVE EARLY – The Tauck Civil War Event sold out quickly in 2011!
A one-of-a-kind experience crafted by filmmaker Ken Burns and Tauck, The Tauck Civil War Event brings a maximum of 300 guests together in the historic epicenter of the conflict, Washington, DC, on two departures only – five days of themed sightseeing and exclusive, once-in-a-lifetime gala experiences, May 20 – 24 and Oct. 14 – 18, including a keynote address by and a personal visit with Ken Burns on May 22 & Oct. 16.
By day, small groups averaging 32 guests visit sites handpicked by Ken Burns to tell the story of the conflict. In the evening, all come together for three gala events hosted by the Tauck family, with private, insider access to three key Washington museums: the National Building Museum, built as the Pension Building for Civil War veterans; the National Archives, site of the keynote address by Ken Burns; and the National Portrait Gallery & Smithsonian American Art Museum, used for Lincoln’s 2nd inaugural ball in March, 1865. Small groups will experience sightseeing tracks on different days, then rejoin the other groups for each evening’s events; the day-by-day itinerary on these pages represents a sample.
