In fact, there was a time when there were so many bald eagles here that they were considered a threat to the fishing industry and it was legal to hunt them. Today there are only about 400 resident eagles at the Chilkat Eagle Preserve, but when the salmon are running there can be as many as 4,000, making this the largest eagle habitat in the world. When Hawaiian King David Kalakaua built himself a royal palace in 1882, inspired by the
