STORIES BY Ken Burns
3. GOING-TO-THE-SUN ROAD
Enjoy a private morning cruise on glacier-carved lakes; weather permitting, drive along Going-to-the-Sun Road through the park’s wild interior aboard the park’s restored 1930s vintage touring buses. Cross the Continental Divide en route to Lake McDonald. Your Swiss chalet-style lodge sits on the eastern shore of the lake. Meals BLD
4. KOOTENAY NATIONAL PARK
Journey through Canada’s timberlands to Kootenay National Park and its stunning diversity of landscapes. View the bright red walls of Sinclair Canyon – a long, narrow chasm hewn through a series of cliffs – and Radium Hot Springs. Continue on to Lake Louise for an overnight in a lake-view room at your resort. Meals BLD
5. PHOTO TIPS / JASPER / ART RECEPTION Enjoy expert tips from a local photographer this morning, then try out your new skills on a drive along the scenic Icefields Parkway to Jasper National Park for a two-night stay. Meals BD
6. EXPLORE JASPER NATIONAL PARK Spend the day enjoying the optional diversions at the lodge (many are available at an additional cost), including golfing, fishing, trail riding and rafting. A National Parks presentation and a wine and cheese reception with a local artist at the Mountain Galleries rounds out this exciting day. Meals BD
7. ICEFIELDS PARKWAY / BANFF NATIONAL PARK Follow the Icefields Parkway to Banff National Park and take a ride aboard a specially designed Ice Explorer along the surface of the Athabasca Glacier. Continue on to The Fairmont Banff Springs, one of Canada’s first great railway hotels. Meals BLD
8. BANFF AS YOU PLEASE
The day is free for you to discover Banff as you wish; optional activities include golf, tennis, hiking, fishing, rafting, horseback riding or spa treatments in the Willow Stream Spa (additional cost may apply). Join us for a farewell dinner tonight. Meals BD

*Glacier National Park is one of the most scenic and remote national parks in North America. Lake McDonald Lodge and Many Glacier Hotel, the best hotels located inside the park, are operated by the National Park Service and are only open three months each year; the service staff are part-time and relatively inexperienced. With a short season, it is economically difficult for these hotels to improve their facilities. Therefore, these hotels will not compare to Tauck’s hotels in other locations. We expect you’ll find the majestic scenery of the park well worth visiting despite the marginal accommodations and service. Hotels and sightseeing are subject to change due to weather conditions.
