Hear stories of that fateful day from one of New York’s finest and bravest and go inside nearby St. Paul’s Chapel where firemen, policemen and volunteers gathered for rest, food and comfort during the rescue efforts. A melting pot of cultures can be found in ethnic neighborhoods throughout the Big Apple; take a fun walking tour in Chinatown and Little Italy, stopping to sample a taste of local life – and bubble tea – along the way. WHERE DREAMS AND FORTUNES WERE MADE Take a ferry to Ellis Island for a chance to explore the immigration depot that processed the nearly 17 million people who came here in search of the American dream from 1892 to 1954; their stories are chronicled in interactive exhibits that include an electronic database to trace ancestors and a wall that lists names of immigrants who passed through the island’s gates. View Wall Street, the heart of the city’s financial district, and walk through Battery Park, before exploring food heaven at Chelsea Market.
