PURPOSE STATEMENT The USA Triathlon Sport Development staff assists in the creation of new initiatives and changes to existing programs to support the overall growth of the multisport lifestyle at the national and regional levels. A primary focus is the development of educational curricula to support USA Triathlon University to all constituents.


The USA Triathlon University mission is to be the most comprehensive multisport educational resource in the country. The purpose of University is to: • Bring together the educational functions under one organizational umbrella


• Once having developed such a structure for its present activities, to expand educational functions in new directions • Establish across-the-board quality standards for various educational functions


• Publish materials, both print and online, in support of various educational programs • Engage in public education about the various educational components of USA Triathlon, as well put an exclamation point on our role to “Fuel the Multisport Lifestyle”


Programs supported by the USA Triathlon Sport Development staff include: • Club Development • Coaching Education • Private Fund Raising • Race Director Certifi cation • Research • USA Triathlon University • Sport Development • USA Triathlon Regions


YEAR IN REVIEW Sport Development, USA Triathlon’s newest business unit, hit the ground running in 2010. The staff saw growth in a number of existing programs and developed many new initiatives that will serve the organization and its constituents in a variety of ways in the future.


USA Triathlon certifi ed 600 new Level I coaches in 2010 at 12 sold-out Level I Coaching Certifi cation Clinics. In 2010, more than 1,700 multisport coaches were certifi ed by USA Triathlon, including 1,500 Level I coaches, 203 Level II coaches and 18 Level III coaches.
