All-America honors were once again awarded to the top 5 percent in each age group, gender and discipline. The next 5 percent in each category received honorable mention. Certifi cates and All-American/Honorable Mention window decals were provided to each recipient.

Aquabike events were ranked for the fi rst time last year, making 2010 an exciting year for the ever-increasing number of aquabike athletes. Fifty-six athletes were ranked in this discipline, and we expect 2011 to bring even more ranked aquabike athletes.

About Information Technology USA Triathlon’s IT staff is another key component of the Operations team. Currently, the organization utilizes a virtualized infrastructure to support internal services, a development environment, a quality assurance environment, a production environment and a reporting platform.

In early 2010, HangAStar, an outside vendor, completed the development of the USA Triathlon annual membership application, which was then transferred to Colorado Springs. The USA Triathlon IT staff currently maintains the membership system in-house, providing a more streamlined operation.

Going forward the IT team is working on several projects that will optimize and enhance the organization’s existing systems, including component upgrades — both hardware and software — that will ensure the reliability, security and integrity of our current and future infrastructure. The team also is closely examining how to apply new technologies to areas that will allow athletes to concentrate on their events, not the logistics surrounding them.

As always, the operations staff is here to support all athletes, whether they are just beginning or have embraced the multisport lifestyle for years.
