Narin

Narin is a two year-old boy with a range of conditions requiring complex care. This includes a tracheostomy due to apnoea, micropnathia and inability to manage secretions. He also has Pierre Robin Syndrome, bilateral dislocation of the hips and a cleft palate.

Narin’s care includes naso-gastric tube feeding and treatment for bronchial pulmonary artery stenosis. Medication is provided through a gastric tube, which requires flushing between each dose.

To meet his care needs, Ambition 24direct has provided night nurses for five days a week since March 2010, when we were asked to develop a care programme. The RSCN and RGN nurses have paediatric experience, including paediatric resuscitation.

The care programme centres on meeting the full range of medical and development needs of Narin, in close cooperation with his parents. They are actively involved in his care and all relevant decisions. Our goal is to ensure that care overnight is integrated as seamlessly as possible with Narin’s day care, in full support of his parents, with safety paramount.
