The British Army’s Specialist Vehicle AFV programme is intended to provide the performance, mobility, protection and fighting power needed by today’s soldier. It will also provide the flexible architecture and adaptability that will allow it to pack a punch as part of mobile, network-enabled force for decades to come.

The ASCOD SV solution from General Dynamics UK, contracted by the new coalition government in July 2010, delivers those capabiitlies at a time when military assets have to prove their worth more than ever before, as our article on page 7 explains.

It’s an example of how General Dynamics UK can focus

all its resources to provide maximum support to the UK’s soldiers, and that’s also demonstrated by our readiness to put capabilities where they’re needed most. For example, General Dynamics UK has Bowman specialists at Camp Bastion in Afghanistan helping to return damaged or battle- weary platforms as fast as possible to the troops who need them (page 10).

In the current economic climate, we can also support

our customers by reducing costs. Among the best ways to do this is to work closely with suppliers and partners to bring innovative new approaches to the supply chain. And there’s an excellent example of this in our work with Hypertac on the Eurofighter programme (page 12).

Finally, we are helping to secure the future in a 14 On the spot

Putting staff in the field is part of a commitment to supporting military customers

more literal way. Page Europa, a General Dynamics UK Company, is providing the systems that will enable Khalifa Port – Abu Dhabi’s largest-ever infrastructure project – to operate effectively and securely (pg.14).
