The Khalifa Port project will play a key role in Abu Dhabi’s economic future – and Page Europa is helping to ensure that it operates smoothly and securely

The Khalifa Port Industrial Zone (KPIZ) is not just Abu Dhabi’s largest infrastructure project, it is one of the biggest installations of its kind in the world. And Page Europa, a General Dynamics UK Company, has been tasked with implementing the systems that will help it run efficiently and remain secure.

Major undertaking

This is a huge project. The site, located at Taweelah, 35km northeast of Abu Dhabi city, will span an area of more than 417 square kilometres – far larger than Abu Dhabi island and a quarter of the size of Greater London. phases, is due to be finished in 2030, and by then it’s expected to be handling 37 million tonnes of cargo and five million containers every year. At that point, Khalifa Port will replace Abu Dhabi’s largest current port, Mina Zayed, which will be freed for development as a residential and commercial zone.

For Abu Dhabi, it will provide an important foundation

for the future, moving away from a focus on the oil and gas business. The port and industrial zones will create an
