On the spot


By putting staff in the field, close to where the military customer is operating, General Dynamics UK is showing its commitment to supporting its solutions – and providing the best possible assistance to soldiers carrying out their difficult tasks


The fast tempo of today’s military operations demands high availability from equipment. It’s a real benefit if worn-out or damaged equipment can be refurbished and put back into the hands of soldiers as fast as possible. And that’s why General Dynamics UK employees are willing to be on the spot – supporting the customer in the field.


There is no better example of this than the


Company’s work on the Full Regeneration Capability (FRC) programme in Afghanistan. General Dynamics UK engineers are stationed at Camp Bastion, using their skills and experience to ensure that Bowman installations on platforms undergoing repair and maintenance operate at optimum performance.


Operational deployment


But this kind of commitment to supporting Bowman goes back even further. In 2005, during Operation Telic in Iraq, Bowman was being rolled out in theatre on its first operational deployment. This started with 12 Armoured Brigade, which had been involved with the original Bowman trials. Given the value that the new equipment could provide to soldiers in the thick of the action, it was thought prudent for General Dynamics UK to provide intimate support in theatre – which is exactly what it did.
