Dear Irish Beauty... Star Letter

Dear Irish Beauty Mag,

Thanks so much for your Salon Wear feature in last month’s issue it really inspired me. The staff at my salon have never had a set uniform because I thought it might look too clinical, but after seeing the colourful and modern designs there are out there we’re investing in new matching tunics. I think we’re going for turquoise to match our salon!

Jemma, Dublin. As this month’s star letter Jemma wins a year’s free membership to AIT. To Irish Beauty,

I recently came back off my Summer holiday to Marbella, and found my skin had become dry and damaged due to my fair complexion. Low and behold I open the September issue of Irish Beauty to see a whole feature dedicated to post-summer skin savers! I now plan to try out some of the products on my own skin before introducing them into my salon to help my clients get their skin back into tip- top condition again before beginning their Winter skin care regime. Thanks IB!

Jinnifer, via email. I love Irish Beauty magazine because... Jilly Innocent, nail technician from Cork.

“I love keeping up-to-date with all the newest nail colours that are available and always invest in a few new shades every month. It keeps my colour selection modern and fresh, in line with fashion trends on the catwalk and the high street.”

12 To IB,

Are you doing any features on Christmas nails? It’s my first Christmas this year as a qualified nail technician and wondered what kind or special manicures and pedicures I can offer to entice my clients in?

Aisling, Navan.

Ed: Hi Aisling, keep an eye out for our December/January edition, where we are doing a Christmas nail Art feature with hints, tips and inspiration!

Dear Melissa,

I was reading your Beauty Panel feature on whether children should be allowed in salons and found the comments very interesting. In my old salon the owner used to bring her children in all the time and have them running riot while we were trying to be professional and carry out our treatments. I’m glad that you made the point that this kind of set-up is unacceptable for a salon, and hope that other therapists and salon owners took notice that salons should definitely be a kid-free zone. Thankfully, I am now self-employed and have a strict no children allowed policy.

Deborah, via email.

Dear Irish Beauty,

I just wanted to write to say how much I enjoy reading your ‘What’s the Craic’ section of the magazine each issue. Ibie certainly does a good job of keeping us salon owners up to speed with the latest industry goss! September’s ‘What’s the Craic’ certainly gave my therapists a hot topic to talk about reading about the sheep placenta facial! Funnily enough it won’t be a new beauty treatment our salon will be introducing, but certainly gave us a good laugh!

Niki J, via email.
