Q&A

Platinum Sponsor - Lifeline Hospital Group The Lifeline Hospital Group is Platinum Sponsors at the ADMC Exhibition & Congress. Here Dr

Vayalil talks about the importance of an event such as the ADMC, and Lifeline’s role in making healthcare better in the region.

Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, Managing Director, Lifeline Hospital Group

Q. How important is the Abu Dhabi Medical Congress to your business? A. The ADMC is now one of the leading medical congresses in the region. Our staff gained valuable exposure to developments during previous years, both from the exhibitions and the lectures. As a group in 2010 Lifeline gained considerable exposure for our new mobile mammography unit, the first in the private sector of the UAE and for our ability to do screening services for the companies and the community.

Q. Why have you chosen to be a sponsor at the event? A. The private sector in Abu Dhabi now provides a significant proportion of outpatient clinical services to the community and is making an increasing contribution to inpatient requirements. We at Lifeline believe that this increased work brings increased social

responsibilities. It is therefore natural that we should show leadership and make a contribution to the success of the Abu Dhabi Medical Congress.

Q. What products will you be showcasing at the event specific to the Middle East Healthcare sector? A. In 2011 Lifeline will be showcasing three areas from our organisation:  Burjeel Hospital. This is a new 200-bed hospital situated in the heart of Abu Dhabi city. This is a new concept tertiary care hospital with a wide range of specialties including some provided by internationally recognised hospital groups including that for IVF, cardiac surgery and diabetic care. There is a 150-seat lecture theatre. The general ambience in the non-clinical areas will be Arabesque and patient friendly including restaurants and underground parking.

 The Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy. Lifeline now has the franchise for the GCC for this pharmacy chain, part of Cardinal Health, USA. We have now established the logistics systems and have successful operational pharmacies in the malls of Abu Dhabi. The Medicine Shoppe specializes in the provision of good patient care and many events have already been carried out to acquaint patients and the public about diseases. Expansion plans are well advanced.  OPTUM. OPTUM is part of the United Health Group in the USA which looks after the health affairs of 75 million people worldwide. Lifeline will, jointly with OPTUM (the Health Services division of United Health Group), provide ancillary healthcare services to the residents of the GCC countries. Their expertise with DRG, E&M coding, Disease Management etc, will be extremely valuable in ensuring that all the stakeholders involved in providing healthcare services to patients will have accurate and manageable information.
