Rehabilitation, whether required post-operatively or due to the loss of mobility or speech is a rapidly expanding segment of the Middle East healthcare sector. As the marketplace continues to grow and mature, more resources are being directed toward this integral component of modern healthcare delivery.

The 4th Middle East Rehabilitation Conference


stretches over three days and will focus on presenting the latest scientific knowledge in various aspects of rehabilitation practice, ranging from the ‘Bio-psycho-social rehabilitation model’; management of traumatic injuries, vascular diseases and low back pain; challenges in physiotherapy rehabilitation practice to ‘Gait and balance’ and cardiopulmonary function.


A mixture of key note talks, interactive


work shops and paper reviews by prominent international and national speakers promises to deliver an overview of rehabilitation as an ever expanding field of medicine, and outstanding conference programme to the wide variety of rehabilitation professionals attending the event. The focus will be mainly on pain management, outcome measures, manual therapy, all


supported by evidence-based practice. The interactive workshops will allow delegates to learn more, through a hands- on approach, on topics such as the art of hand splinting; how to work smarter in a neurological rehabilitation setting; knee osteoarthritis and how you can integrate psychological management into physiotherapy practice.

It is with great pleasure that I offer my warmest welcome to everyone attending the Middle East Rehabilitation Conference. I would also especially like to welcome those international delegates who have travelled to Abu Dhabi to take par t in what will surely be a most informative event. The conference will provide an excellent forum for the exchange of


ideas and information with your colleagues from around the world who are working in the treatment and rehabilitation of physical injuries, diseases and disabilities. The theme of this conference; ‘Moving Rehabilitation Forward’ provides a framework for discussing the challenges and oppor tunities for the profession of physical therapy. Each of you brings a high level of

event. I know that you will make the most of the oppor tunity to learn from one another.
