What’s the Craic?..................................................................................................................................................................................................................... wild side!

Artdeco have pulled out all of the stops for their Autumn / Winter collection, Wild at Heart.

Not only have they launched a gorgeous palette of jewel hues for their seasonal shadows, eye liners, lipsticks and nail lacquers, they’ve

also developed a fashion bracelet designed to be retailed alongside the cosmetic line. Featuring real agate stone in pink or brown, we think it’s the perfect accessory to complete Artdeco’s stylish collection created to complement the season’s green, brown and dark pink animals prints.

Skin care celebrations are‘magnifiques!’

French brand Phyts Organic Skincare celebrated Bastille Week earlier this Summer with great success.

Aileen Duffy of The Beauty Lounge in Monaghan was voted as having the best decorated salon window with the Bastille Week theme through a Facebook vote, winning €200 of Phyts products. Voter Marie Enright from Femoy, Co. Cork, won €100 of Phyts products for casting her vote!

Virginie Claire, distributor of the Phyts range, says: “With our valued stockists taking part in the week-long celebration with brilliant discounts on our Discovery and Radiance facials and unbeatable product promotions, fantastic advertisements from the Irish Independent, Daily Star, Sunday Business Post, The Gloss, U Magazine, Tatler and more, and of course great support from the Irish Beauty Team. We hope to see Bastille Week’s popularity grow each year as our premium product Phyts grows…Merci!”

THE SURVEY SAYS…

According to a new survey, Irish women don’t care what men think about their looks. What’s more, despite the recession, a quarter of all women haven’t reduced their beauty spend – no surprise to me!

The survey, conducted by online booking service SalonAddict.ie, shows that 87% of women say they feel more pressure to look good from women, rather than men. Over 1,150 women were surveyed about their health and beauty habits, with 75% booking a blow dry, haircut or colour appointment over other services such as mani / pedis, tanning or waxing.

When asked how far women would let their men go in terms of beauty treatments, the majority of women said that a spray tan (89.4%) and sunbeds (78.7%) were a step too far, with facials, waxing and manicures generally accepted.

16 ECO AWARD

Easydry, award-winning innovator of disposable salon towels, has been shortlisted in the Corporate Social Responsibility Awards for its contribution to the environment.

“This award means a lot to us as it recognises our commitment to helping other businesses put their CSR agendas in place,” Anne Butterly, inventor of the eco-friendly disposable towel and managing director of Easydry told us. “Using Easydry will help salons reduce their carbon footprint, something clients are increasing become more concerned about.”

Good luck to Anne and the team. FIRE RISK WARNING

Fire chiefs are warning that essential oils can pose a fi re risk when not washed out of towels effectively.

Used in aromatherapy and massage treatments, essential oils often come into contact with towels, making them highly combustable. This residue remains on towels that are washed at lower temperatures, meaning they can explode into fl ames when placed in a tumble dryer or warm airing cupboard.

Fire expert Julian Parsons says: “The problem seems to arise when the wash cycle has been at a cool temperature. It is now common to have washes sometimes as low as 15 degrees Celsius.

“When the wash has been at 40 degrees or above, the oil residue is more likely to be safely broken down by the washing detergents.”

SHEEP DREAMS

According to a recent story in The Daily Mail, the latest anti-wrinkle treatment to hit the UK uses sheep placenta as its main ingredient.

Devised by Harley Street doctor, Dr Roberto Viel, the unusual cure for wrinkles, known as the Actistem treatment, is being touted as an alternative to the facelift and with results lasting up to fi ve months.
