Harvick Snares Second Win Of The Season Peters fi nished second and was

KEVIN HARVICK outran Timothy Peters in a green-white-checkered fi nish to win the VFW 200 at Michigan International Speedway. T e victory was Harvick’s

second in four Truck Series starts this season and the 11th of his career.

followed by Miguel Paludo, James Buescher and David Starr. A caution for debris on lap 78

of a scheduled 100 bunched the fi eld for a restart on lap 83 with Mark Martin in the lead. Martin battled briefl y with Johnny Sauter but soon began to pull away. On lap 86, Sauter spun in close

quarters with Paludo and slapped the inside retaining wall on the backstretch. Martin led the fi eld to a restart

on lap 90, but the race stayed green only for a moment. Parker Kligerman broke loose

while battling with Martin, clipped the rear of Martin’s truck and sent

the race leader spinning. Austin Dillon T-boned

Kligerman’s truck in the melee, and polesitter Matt Crafton crashed into Martin, sending the defenseless Martin spinning for a second time. Harvick inherited the lead for a

restart on lap 96 and took the win. “I didn’t think we had the

truck to win, but we had good tire strategy and that caution came out with nine laps remaining and with fresh tires we were able to get under Mark [Martin] and some others. It was ugly but it was a lot of fun,” Harvick said.
