Cut Tire Can’t Keep Peters From Victory Lane Once out front,

TIMOTHY PETERS bounced back from a cut tire to win the AAA Insurance 200 at Lucas Oil Raceway. Peters’ fateful fl at occurred at

about the halfway point of the race and forced the Red Horse Racing driver into the pits. In addition to putting on four

fresh tires, crew chief Butch Hylton took the opportunity to make some much-needed adjustments. Peters said the truck came alive and he later passed James Buescher for the lead with six laps to go.

Peters went on to score his fi rst victory of the season and the third of his career. “T at’s what

saved our night right there,” Peters said. “T e good Lord was looking out for us tonight. It’s unbelievable.” Buescher held on for a runnerup

fi nish and David Starr, Miguel Paludo and Ron Hornaday Jr. rounded out the top fi ve. “It’s defi nitely frustrating when

you lose the lead that late,” said Buescher, who led a race-high 97 laps. “[You] can’t get any closer to a win than that. But we had nothing for him.” Points leader Johnny Sauter

led 44 laps and appeared to be the driver to beat, but he also suff ered a cut tire and ended the night 23rd. Austin Dillon closed to within

four points of Sauter with a ninth- place fi nish. T e race was the 17th and

possibly last Truck Series event at the track. NASCAR is moving the Nationwide Series race to Indianapolis Motor Speedway next year.
