Weddings? The search giant takes a step into wedding planning.

WED talks with celebrity destination wedding planner and Google Weddings spokesperson, Michelle Rago.

Google has organized some of its tools to help simplify wedding planning. Many nearlyweds were already using Google docs to organize their wedding tasks, but Google has added value to the tools with tips and advice from industry experts and has collected useful wedding tools in one spot: www.google.com/weddings

If you were planning on using spreadsheets or Google docs to get organized anyway, this is a great place to start. With templates already set-up, you can customize them to meet your needs and share with others involved in the wedding planning.

Renown destination wedding planner Michelle Rago, spokesperson for Google Weddings, spoke with WED about these great new tools and her tips for planning a well-organized wedding. Founder and President of Michelle Rago Destinations, she is an industry leader in the design and planning of truly personalized weddings. Michelle’s book, "Signature Weddings: Creating a Day Uniquely Your Own" is the seminal guide for couples planning their perfect wedding.

A Few Planning Tips from Michelle Rago via Google Weddings:

A budget is a living breathing aspect of the wedding . . . Take the time to understand all the factors at play before you start spending.

The number of guests you invite is the biggest driver for your budget.

Take care to place your family matriarchs and your fiancé’s boss at good real estate in the room. Some things you just can't take back.

“Google wants you to use their tools and they were smart enough to organize them specifically on one site,” said Michelle. “They help you manage the business of the wedding—your guest list, RSVP’s, tables—and you can customize them completely.”

“And they really speak to the guys because it’s much more straight forward. Couples have had an easier time communicating around things like budget and guest lists because the documents come in a format that men understand. Guys have said it’s kind of intimidating to fish through the wedding sites whereas *in Google docs+ it’s much more straight forward.”

Beyond the organizational docs, Google Weddings has also bundled photo management with Picasa, website creation with Google sites, and save-the-date and invitation creation via Picnik. Google Weddings also offers beautiful templates to help coordinate your wedding website with your save-the-dates and other details such as table numbers, escort cards and programs.
