Plan a Beautiful Summer Bridal Shower!
With summer weddings just around the corner, bridal shower planning is in full motion all over the country! MPM herself is having a blast planning her cousin’s shower and is delighted to share with you her ideas for a fun and delicious experience for all.
Planning ahead is the key to making sure both the bride and her guests are happy…so make sure you do your homework!
Getting Started Questions:
Will you choose to have the food catered or will you be doing it yourself? What is the budget? How many guests are expected?
Let’s say for the moment, you’re planning to create the food yourself. If you follow MPM’s simple guidelines, you can be sure your shower will be a success.
No Need to Go It Alone: MPM is betting there are friends or family of the bride that would be delighted to help- so please do not be shy about asking. Not only will it take the financial pressure off of you, but it’s more fun when a group that is close to the bride puts their heads together to come up with a theme and menu that is pleasing to everyone.
Make It Budget-Friendly: Today, everyone is watching their pennies when it comes to planning events and a bridal shower is no exception. Delicious, lovely menus can be planned on a budget that works for all. If after the menu is planned and costs are calculated, the group decides it’s not budget-friendly, try to get another friend or family member to help lessen the individual dollar responsibility. Sometimes bringing in just one more person will create a price point that is comfortable for everyone.

Pick a Theme: The sky’s the limit when it comes to bridal shower themes! Now that warm weather is upon us, a garden theme with centerpieces and tablecloths reflecting the beauty of summer flowers would be gorgeous. Or what about a spa theme?
Now, given MPM’s love of food, recipes and cooking, naturally she would favor a kitchen theme. If the bride and groom are novice cooks, what better way to get them into the kitchen? These days, cool kitchen gadgets and equipment abound and with a bit of creativity would make a great collection of “green” centerpieces that the bride and groom could use for years to come. To make the shower even more memorable, why not ask your guests to bring along a tried ’n true family recipe which can be assembled into a personal cookbook and treasured keepsake?
Choose a Menu: For summer bridal showers, you want to create a menu that is light, fun and full of the colors of the season. Keep the menu healthy too, as chances are along with the bride, most of your guests are quite food conscious these days- so processed, calorie-ridden foods should not be a guest at your tables! Swap out traditional menu choices (such as chips, dips, heavy pastas, creamed entrees, etc.) for lighter dishes. Not only will this make your menu healthier, but it will also enhance the look of your tables by filling them with a selection of colors, tastes and textures from fresh fruit, vegetables, cheeses, whole grains, fish and seafood . And MPM pinky swears with careful planning, all of this can be done without breaking the bank.
Sit Down or Buffet? To be quite candid, MPM prefers buffets as opposed to sit- down showers as they give the guests more opportunity to mingle with the bride as well as with each other. Buffets also take the worry away from timing the courses
