Graduation of the International and the LATAM students with their Headmasters Mario Garcia and Mathias Kuhrke
The third training programme of the Weir Minerals Mill Circuit University begins in September. The programme supports Weir Miner-
als’ commitment to delivering customers entire Mill Circuit package solutions. In
order to achieve this goal, and not just deliver individual products, the objective is to ensure sales and technical staff have an understanding of the whole process. That’s important in effectively meeting customers’ needs and explaining the benefits of our
wide range of solutions.
Whilst technical information forms a crucial part of the programme, there is also an emphasis on ‘soft competencies’ such as negotiation, high impact teams and leadership.
Weir Minerals South America recently had the honour of hosting Jon Stanton,
Group Finance Director. The objective of Jon’s trip was to learn more, first hand, about the successful Weir Minerals companies in Brazil, Chile, and Peru. These organisations are the backbone of Weir Minerals South America. In addition, Jon met with the organisations’ key personnel and reviewed the growth plans for the region, whilst simultaneously having an opportunity to discuss the Group’s support for these plans. During the visit, Jon reviewed operations in Lima, Peru; Santiago ,Chile; and finally the new installations in Jundiai , Brazil. He was accompanied by Ricardo Garib, Weir Minerals South America Regional Managing Director and Luis Vasquez, South America Regional Finance Director.
During the visit to Chile, Jon had the
opportunity to visit the Anglo American-Los Bronces new Mill just before commissioning, where Bechtel is the Engineering, Procure- ment and Construction manager. This is the latest and most modern concentrator plant in the world, boasting a 42’ SAG Mill 2 Ball mills and four of Weir Minerals latest WAR- MAN®
750MCR pumps and CAVEX® 800
cyclone cluster. Weir Minerals sold a complete package to Los Bronces in a multimillion dollar deal, including a complete set of low and high pressure spools.
