Senior Group leaders discuss ‘Accelerating Growth’


‘Accelerating Growth’ was the theme of the 2011 Group conference. The managing directors of each company and other senior managers came together at Gleneagles in Scotland in June for two days of discus- sion and new thinking on how the strong performance of the business can become even better.


Each attendee will feed back the core


messages from the event to all staff, ensuring everyone understands the plans for how we accelerate growth throughout the business. Key areas of discussion included


increasing customer focus; the importance of staying true to Weir’s foundational strengths; boosting support for our operations and managing talent; retaining focus on doing business safely and ethically; and, executing strategy flawlessly. The Conference was also addressed by chairman Lord Smith of Kelvin, who led a question and answer session with his fellow non-executive directors.


The event concluded with a black tie


dinner, addressed by Lord Weir in the 140th anniversary year of the business that bears his family name. A highlight was Oil & Gas divisional finance director, Bill Currie’s ‘Ad- dress to the Haggis’, which was translated for the benefit of the international attendees!
