   Dursley’s historic Market Hall was surrounded by vestiges of road and piecemeal attempts at pedestrianisation. A new supermarket development provided the aesthetic and financial impetus to repave the town centre: highlighting the historic features around the Market Hall, making it a more practical space, and establishing a clear link from the town to the new supermarket.


Dursley Paving Project was commended in the Environment and Culture category of the West Action for Market Towns Awards.


  The Energy Descent Pathways project was established


to plan how to reduce consumption of energy through a creative community based process. The project engaged all sectors of local society and produced a local energy reduction action plan, a practical community guide for transition towards local resilience to depleting oil supplies and climate change.


Energy Descent Pathways was commended in the Partnership and Strategic Working category of the West Action for Market Towns Awards.


 


 In 1935, the eccentric Lord Berners built the Folly Tower on Folly Hill - a Folly on a Folly - as a birthday whim for his gay lover. The Folly Regeneration Project has involved every corner of the community and is a true celebration of this surreal icon, which towers 260 ft above Faringdon, and secures its future for the benefit of residents and visitors alike. Folly Regeneration Project was commended in the Environment and Culture category of the South East Action for Market Towns Awards.


  The Project’s aim is to use iconic art to promote and raise awareness of the 177 mile Offa’s Dyke National


Trail which passes through the town of Prestatyn. Three key sites were chosen to link the town with its coast and the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.


National Trail Art was commended in the Environment and Culture category of the Wales Action for Market Towns Awards.


     There is only one public car park in Tuxford and it was badly in need of resurfacing. The surface presented a danger to pedestrians and there was also the risk of damage to vehicles. Resurfacing the car park was seen as a key step in the regeneration of Tuxford. Refurbishing the Public Car Park in Tuxford was commended in the Environment and Culture category of the East Action for Market Towns Awards.


  In September 2010, the first Shifnal Festival took place over ten action-packed, fun-filled days. The festival came out of the Shifnal Town Plan and involved the whole community including local poets, artists, dancers, craftspeople, photographers, choirs and musicians.
