  Lead organisation: Seahouses  The townscape project is working to improve the public realm of Seahouses for local people and visitors to the town. The development trust has brought together statutory agencies and local community organisations to develop a “design guide” for the town and then carry out a range of temporary and permanent improvements.


Seahouses Townscape Project was commended in the Partnership and Strategic Working category of the North Action for Market Towns Awards.


  An initiative to promote the range and variety of


independent retailers in Pickering in order to encourage more visitors, both locals and tourists and have a positive impact on the town’s economy. This initiative led to the formation of a coordinated Business/Trade Group.


  The Hidden Britain Group of the Petersfield Town Partnership, with guidance from Hidden Britain South East, has delivered six projects to promote the town to visitors and tourists in the context of the South Downs National Park, which was formally established on 1st April 2011.


  S.O.S. (Support our Shops!) is a community campaign to support the unrivalled range of shops and services on Alston Moor, a remote rural area of the north Pennines. Local people are being encouraged to do more of their shopping locally and to use local services, to supplement the summer tourist trade.


  In 2010, Dorking Needs Action Ltd launched a business-to-business show and seminars programme to get local enterprises to connect and learn from each

other through business advice and support. The event also demonstrated the wealth of talents, skills and services offered in and around the Mole Valley.


    The Business Forum was created in response to a lack of a connection between residents and local businesses, mainly due to competition from larger traders in nearby towns. It has resulted in improving residents’ awareness of the local traders, businesses and services that are on offer in Twyford.


The Forum, now a fee paying membership group, also offers a way for members to share experience, advice and event promotion with the community and surroundings areas.
