    Community Partnership After the introduction of a Caterham Arts Festival in 2009, plans were made to support the business community in 2010. A food festival was planned which developed into an international market. The main road was closed, buses diverted, 40 stalls booked in, restaurants opened with seats on the pavement and more than 5,000 people attended.

The Faversham Food Trails project is made up of eight circular walking routes through Kent’s beautiful countryside, each with a unique character. Sustained


  Community Partnership Recognised as an area of outstanding beauty, the South Downs National Park offers a wide range of cycle paths. Hassocks Community Partnership have created a green visitor programme linking cycling with access by rail.


This is an example of strengthening the local town economy through an environmentally friendly visitor programme.


   The Heart to Haltwhistle heritage interpretation project involved the illumination of a 12th century Holy Cross Church.


The project has also seen original artwork commissioned for six lecterns giving information about the town’s history and a bronze circular floorscape positioning the town at the centre of Britain and connecting people with the past.

The market town of Beverley was turned into a huge outdoor art gallery when 22 reproduction paintings were hung throughout the town centre to form a trail. The gallery celebrated the town’s heritage through the work of Fred and Mary Elwell, two local artists who captured local people, places and events in their paintings.


      Lead organisation: Settle Stories Settle Stories held the first Settle Storytelling Festival last October. An aray of accomplished storytellers told tall stories, short stories, historical anecdotes, ghostly rumours and stories through song to enthral audiences young and old.
