put your cynicism to one side,”explains Paul Martin,VP,entertainment at Zodiak Rights. “On the surface it seems in line with other performance shows out there,but it is very different and sets out to be that way.Some of the singers and dancers are not the best in the world,but it’s a show that is greater than the sum of its parts – it’s not about exploiting the kids taking part, it’s about empowering them.”

In the 20x30mins version for MTV in the

high-energy, fast-paced gameshow – it’s an ambush quiz,”explains SPT’s Jane Dockery. The initial line-up of 20 students is whittled


down in head-to-head trivia challenges including stuff the kids should know (history, science and so on) and things they like (video games,music and so forth).This five then bat- tle it out over another round that includes a physical challenge.The winner must then battle against another student chosen by the class in the final round in which they must match their answers against those given in a poll of 100 students. If the student that won the earlier rounds triumphs,he or she pock- ets the cash.If the challenger wins, it is shared among the class.

organising a visit on Tuesday 21st June as the series,which was written by Downton Abbey and Gosford Park screenwriter Julian Fellowes, is being shot in Budapest. “We picked up the German-speaking rights


and for Central and Eastern Europe so it’s going to be a highlight for Discop,”he adds. The series,which is produced by ITV Studios Global Entertainment,which is co- distributing,has already been picked up by US network ABC as well as broadcasters in Australia (Seven) and Canada (Global).
