Products Industrial cleaning Burnishers offer high performance at an affordable price

Amano Pioneer Eclipse, professional floor care solutions specialist, has introduced two machines to its line of high performance battery and propane powered scrubbers, burnishers and stripping machines. The PE400BU Ultra High Speed (UHS) burnishers are said to give floor care professionals the performance of higher priced units in one durable, affordable package. The 28 inch (71cm) machine maximises floor coverage while the 21 inch (53cm) machine improves maneuverability in tighter spaces. Both machines use an 18HP Kawasaki propane engine said to be 34 per cent more fuel efficient and requires 40 per cent fewer oil changes than any other burnisher in its class. An adjustable handle and soft tread wheels allow for precise cus- tom set up. Both machines exceed EPA and CARB minimum requirements. Vic Thomas, executive director of sales at Amano Pioneer Eclipse says:

“Our customers have challenged us to manufacture a high production burnisher that produces great results, but with a price tag that won’t eat up their budget. These two machines do that and more.” An aggressive cost saving exercise was conducted early in the year to accommodate the reduced budgets of current and future customers.

“The result of this effort gave us two machines that are great performers, easy to maintain, very durable and easily affordable,” says Derrick Hamm, director of research and development at Amano Pioneer Eclipse. The engine on the 28 inch (71cm) and 21 inch (53cm) machines pro- duces performance ratings with pad speeds of 1,700 and 2,000rpm respectively. Both burnishers are designed with the Rok-Bak feature that allows the machine to safely tilt back on its han- dle without fouling the engine. This action exposes the under carriage and allows the operator to change pads without tools. Both machines are manufactured with American-made aluminum castings and an AGM battery and support pads. The PE400BU is said to give flooring professionals the power and performance typically found in higher priced machines.

Enter 327 Fluidised baths clean plastic residue from tooling

Techne’s Industrial Fluidised Baths (IFB) are said to remove almost all polymers and hydro- carbon-based products from tool- ing, components and parts. Cleaning time is faster than with oven methods, while the risk of tool damage and metal fatigue is said to be greatly reduced.

Hawks ward off

nuisance birds Ilfracombe power supply manufacturer TDK-Lambda, has employed a falconer and his Harris Hawk birds of prey to deter crows, seagulls and pigeons from its

sites at Kingsley Avenue and Slade. “We’ve had problems with birds defacing our buildings, causing dam- age to cars and fouling pavements,” explains Tony Puttick, health and safety compliance manager at TDK-Lambda. Bird control specialist Lee Agambar says: “Birds of prey are a natural solu- tion to control bird problems. They do not catch the nuisance birds; instead they act as a deterrent. The pest birds see the area as the hawk’s territory and move elsewhere.”

A native to South America the Harris Hawks, Rio (pictured) and Cloe, are accustomed to flying in close country and so adapt well to built-up areas, such as factory buildings. They will be flown over the two sites regularly for six to eight weeks, repeated annually. TDK-Lambda T: 01271 856667 Enter 337 www.uk.tdk-lambda.com www.torbayfalconry.co.uk

All seven Techne IFB models contain a bath of tiny, loosely packed aluminium oxide parti- cles. When heated to high tem- perature (up to 600˚C) and fluidised with a stream of com- pressed air or inert gas, these quickly degrade plastics to carbon, which then leaves the

bath as CO2. Heaters on the out- side wall of the bath radiate heat into the inner container of alu- minium oxide. Fluidisation acts as the stirring mechanism, dis- tributing heat throughout the bath resulting in very high thermal stability and uniformity.

For manufacturers of plastic extrusions – tubes, pipes, rods,

sheets, films, fibres, electrical cables and wires – cleaning plas- tic residues from tooling is a diffi- cult, labour-intensive process. Use of scrapers, brushes or blow torches risks damage to tooling. Cleaning times are 20–30 min- utes and IFB methods are consid- ered safe, non-abrasive and environmentally friendly.

Scrubber leaves floor instantly dry

The TASKI by Diversey swingo 1850 walk-behind scrubber drier incorporates features to promote economical operation, ease-of- use and life-long sustainability. Its large water tank and patented water control system ensure it can clean areas up to 2,500m2 between refills. This makes it suitable for high perfor- mance conventional and daytime cleaning in retail, health- care as well as general applications.

The water pick-up system incorporates an advanced W-shaped squeegee that removes over 99 per cent of water from the floor leaving it clean and dry which means it can be walked on almost immediately.

The working width of 850mm means up to 3,825m2 can be cleaned each hour.

The machine is said to save up to 40 per cent of cleaning solution by using a patented Cleaning Solution Dosing system. The swingo 1850 also reduces energy consumption by 20 per cent. Direct suction from the squeegee to the recovery tank reduces the blockages while a lightweight handle with height adjustable controls and hand protectors at the side help make the machine ergonomic and easy to use.

MAY 2011 Factory Equipment Muncher stops

sludge blockages NOV Mono’s TR Muncher has been specified by United Utilities to increase process efficiency at its Warrington North (Gatewarth) wastewater treatment works by preventing pump blockages. The site was experiencing problems with two of its Flygt pumps which would block and cause downtime. A solution was required which would pro- tect the two pumps from the high rag content of the sludge they transferred, but also fit at the bottom of a four-meter deep dry well where the pumps were. Mono’s TR Muncher, which macer- ates heavy solids and rags to a small particle size, provided the solution. It is designed for efficient treatment of abra- sive sludges. The differential speed of the cutter stacks pulls apart fibrous material, while the leading edge and sides of the cutter teeth crop and shear materials such as plastic. The circum- ferential ‘land’ of the cutter crushes fri- able or brittle material and the pull back cutter stack allows removal with- out disturbing the pipeline. The layback cutter shafts are set at an angle to the flow which allows the Muncher to capture irregular shaped objects.
