subcontract waterjet cutting of a range of materials including aluminium, stainless steel, copper, brass, special metals and other materials. Work is undertaken for all industry sectors and the public. For Advanced Profiling, the cutting head is the essential element of a waterjet process. It is the point from which the company derives its cutting accuracy and therefore the better the quality of the cutting head, the better the waterjet stream that is created. This in turn increases nozzle life – one of the most expensive consumables for any waterjet company. Originally, Advanced Profiling had a sapphire cutting head when it invested in its Flow T11 3000 x 3000 Twin Head waterjet cutting table and accompanying intensifier. Although giving good performance, the replaceable sapphire jewel had to be replaced twice a week to maintain cutting consistency and was proving costly. The company always looks to improve its services with investment in the latest waterjet technology and decided to move to a new cutting head with an embedded diamond. However following routine maintenance, debris in the high pressure system damaged the diamond ruining the entire cutting head.

New Cooljet pro torch E
SAB Cutting Systems has further developed its established oxy-fuel Cooljet cutting torch to offer more features and user
benefits. A significant feature of the new Cooljet Pro is “tool free” cutting nozzle exchange achieved through the Jetcon system. The Jetcon nozzle retainer provides a double function and no extra nozzle nut is needed to fix the cutting nozzle system. Nozzle exchange is extremely fast and less effort has to be made when setting thanks to the tool free system. The lifetime of the Jetcon nozzle retainer is up to eight times longer than conventional outer sleeve systems. The Cooljet Pro is available with a completely integrated oxygen cooling system which doubles cutting torch and nozzle life, providing significant savings in wear part costs. Thanks also to a preheating feature, Cooljet Pro Pro also offers up to 30% higher cutting speeds for higher productivity.

EFD Ultimus™ V High-Precision Fluid Dispenser & Optimeter™
F
or fluids that change viscosity, the Ultimus V dispenser provides the ability to store and then automatically adjust dispensing
parameters to keep the amount of fluid applied constant as it gets thicker or thinner. Once the fluid curve has been programmed into the Ultimus V dispenser’s memory cells, air pressure will automatically adjust after a set time interval or number of shots to keep the size of the fluid deposit uniform as the viscosity of the material changes. Electronic control of dispense time, air pressure and vacuum, along with digital display of all dispenser settings, brings exceptional accuracy and process control to critical tabletop and automated dispensing applications. The Ultimus V is supplied with the Optimeter specifically engineered to work with thinner fluids.

CML invests in Wightman Stewart’s waterjet expertise
C
ML Alloys’ investment in waterjet cutting technology is already paying dividends, after installing a WARDJet ZX-2543 waterjet cutting table and an AccuStream AS 60 100hp intensifier. The turnkey system, supplied by exclusive agents Wightman Stewart, is providing CML Alloys with the ability to cut sheet metal titanium with a high degree of accuracy and with minimal waste material. It has also opened the door for the company to improve lead times and further extend its range of services. CML Alloys made the decision to bring this process in-house to ensure improved lead times and greater control over the whole waterjet process. As the exclusive UK agents for both WARDJet waterjet cutting tables and AccuStream waterjet intensifiers, Wightman Stewart was able to engineer a turnkey waterjet system that included the waterjet table, twin screen CNC Controller, intensifier pump, diamond cutting heads, metered abrasive feed, header tank and oil cooler.

friendly colour with welding electrodes
F
ollowing its acquisition in 2006 of ISO 14001 certification for its approach to welding products manufacture and environmental practices, the ESAB Group has continuously reviewed its methods to reduce environmental impact.
The company has
recognised that some of the dyes used to colour electrode coatings can be environmentally detrimental. The decision has therefore been made to remove the green dye used in the coating of the Murex branded Vortic Marine welding electrode. This dye is purely a recognition feature and does not contribute to the welding performance and properties of the product.
The coating colour is
being changed to grey and the new colour electrodes will be seen as stocks become available through distribution channels.
