Adlib provided kit for The Script’s UK arena tour
LIVERPOOL’S Adlib supplied sound equipment and crew for the sell-out UK arena leg of The Script’s Science & Faith world tour – its largest production setup to date. After using an L-Acoustics V-DOSC
system, also supplied by Adlib, for the band’s theatre tour last autumn, FOH engineer Richy Nicholson specified the new K1 system. He worked alongside an Adlib team consisting of systems tech Tony Szabo as crew chief, Marc Peers and PA techs Ian Nelson and Alan Harrison. Bob O’Brien managed all aspects of the production with Ian ‘Quinner’ Quinn as technical manager. With all the shows completely sold out, and larger venues such as
London's O2 Arena providing seating to 270-degrees, it was essential that the system was capable of delivering exceptional coverage. The main rig (in its largest configuration, as used at the O2) comprised main left and right hangs of 16 K1 elements, plus three Kara downfills. Side hangs consisted of 14 V-DOSC (each with six dV-DOSC downfills) and eight K1 subs, flown to the left and right. Further bottom end power was provided by 12 L-Acoustics SB28 subs per side on the floor, while infills and outfills were taken care of using a series of ARCS and dV-DOSC cabinets. Left and right delays of eight K1 were located two thirds of the way down the venue to help cover the
cavernous back and upper levels of the vast arena. The entire system was driven by the
proprietary L-Acoustics LA8 amps and controlled using the Lake LM26 system processors – four at the stage end and three at FOH, connected by fibre – and a Dante audio-over-Ethernet system to keep the signal digital and to provide a solid network for control over the LA8 amps. A Meyer SIM 3 was used for time alignment and system set up, his current choice for its accuracy and precision. Nicholson created the FOH mix on
an Avid Profile using 48 channels. A Waves C6 dynamic eq and a Tube-Tech
CL1B compressor were also employed. >

Filleul signals ‘major change’ Recording trade body evolves in line with the rapidly changing recording industry
PETER FILLEUL, executive director of the Association of Professional Recording Services (APRS), has indicated that the trade body will soon go through a significant change. In an exclusive interview with Audio
Pro, Filleul said: “The APRS is a body that has to change and it has to keep on changing, and it’s going to change again quite soon in a major way.” Filleul declined to elaborate on the plans, saying, “I can’t say anything about that just yet”, however, he did note that one of the association’s future aims will be to appoint board members from the younger generations of recording professionals to help it stay in touch with an ever evolving industry. For the last five or six years we’ve had
some younger people on our board,” he explained, “and we’ll have another drive

towards that as well, because young people get older and it’s easy to lose touch with the generations that are just breaking through.” Filleul was keen to point out that the APRS is a trade body that will adapt to changes in the way the recording industry
operates. He noted: “We are here to respond to what our members’ position is and their activities define our interests. People work in an entirely different way now; they’re not necessarily involved in standard studio relationships.” (Full interview on pages 46 and 47).
