The technology
Flexibility + Simplicity = Freedom That’s the formula for Mitel’s Freedom Architecture. Combining our powerful call control solution with a rich suite of flexible options gives your customers’ the freedom to implement flexible, tailored communications solutions without complexity.
Mitel Communications Director (MCD) The heart of Mitel’s Freedom Architecture is Mitel Communications Director (MCD), a single software stream that underpins a diverse spectrum of communications capabilities and configurations. MCD call control software allows your customers’ to operate their communications system on the platform of their choice, such as the family of Mitel 3300 IP-PBX Controllers or industry standard servers from Oracle, HP, and IBM.
MCD is the foundation for an array of deployment options and functionality to meet the needs of diverse businesses worldwide. This software-oriented approach gives businesses the flexibility to choose the most appropriate, advanced and effective communications solution without compromise or limitation – the very definition of Freedom.
Mitel Mobility
Give your customers’ the freedom to communicate wherever they are with whatever device they want. They want to use the same tools to socialise as they do in business. Mitel is the only UC vendor that provide them with such flexibility. From social media tools to MSFT, Lotus Notes, to using their iPad, netbook or mobile device to work where they like, Mitel will set them free to do so.
MCD’s embedded Dynamic Extension solution will give your customers’ the freedom to select up to eight different devices to act as their business phone, so all of their phone numbers collapse into one, giving them a single identity and a single number.
Mitel Unified
Communicator (UC) Advanced provides a single access point for all business communication and collaboration needs, along with real-time presence information and access to everyone in the organisation – on or off the premises.
Mitel Mobility for BlackBerry Mobile Voice System (MVS) combines MCD and BlackBerry to extend Mitel business
communications to the BlackBerry smartphone. It allows the BlackBerry smartphone to become a SIP extension of the Mitel call control over Wi-Fi® or mobile networks, providing the user with cost savings over Wi-Fi and a seamless calling experience using the native Blackberry user interface.
Mitel Applications Suite (MAS)
Mitel Applications Suite (MAS) brings together a complement of business- critical software applications on a single server that removes complexity and gives your customers the freedom of choice in deploying their unified communications
Evolution of Mitel’s Virtual Solutions Recognising the industry evolution of voice communications as an integral part of the virtualised data centre, Mitel collaborated with VMware to become the first to break the barrier between voice telephony and virtualised software and provide a real-time voice application that can run in a virtualised data centre environment, giving your customers’ the freedom to consolidate and manage both voice and data in the same place.

Case Study: Davies Arnold Cooper LLP is an international commercial law firm that specialises in dispute resolution and real estate.
D
avies Arnold Cooper has over 220 partners and lawyers. In such
a demanding market Davies Arnold Cooper needed to ensure that they had the latest communications technology to deliver competitive advantage and to assist employees and not hinder them. With offices in the UK and two international offices all working on different phone systems it was proving both costly and difficult to manage them all. The costs of maintenance and calls to the international office were increasing and Stuart Cowell, IT Operations and Service Delivery Manager wanted to deploy an IP solution to improve overall communications and business processes.
“We were impressed with the flexibility of the Mitel solution and the fact that we could retain our existing phone system and migrate to IP at our own convenience was an added advantage.
Mitel provided us with the freedom of what technology to have and when to deploy it, this puts them head and shoulders above the competition,” stated Cowell.
All employees now have access to hot desking so when they visit Davies Arnold Cooper offices around the UK and the world they just enter their pin number and password and can immediately access their personal phone settings. Employees now have a single identity with one phone number whereever they are in the world. An external caller could call an employee and one day they could be working from home, the next in a UK office or an international site – the caller does not know and does not need to know of the employee’s location – it is not relevant. Stuart plans to extend the IP solution by giving employees the ability to work from client sites, airports or hotel rooms using Mitel Unified Communicator (UC) Advanced.
