Resellers snap up Gamma app
ohn Haw, Sales Director at Gamma Telecom, claims to be launching an industry first, a Smartphone app that enables customers to control their telephony on the move. The new app is especially useful for disaster recovery as it has a ‘change all’ Button function enabling IT directors to rapidly respond to a change in business circumstances when they may not necessarily be able to get to their computer quickly enough. “But it has other key benefits too,” explained Haw. “In essence it’s is an easy enabler of our Inbound service for those on the move. The app complements Inbound’s ethos of simplicity, usability and accessibility. The app will also appeal to sole traders or the SoHo market where people are typically more mobile and can access the service while on the move.”

The app was the brainchild of Gamma’s Software Development Manager Steve Holden. Resellers have bought into the concept and are using it as an effective management tool.
“It’s embracing the trend of simplification, started by devices such as the iPhone. No longer will you need a complex telephony or web page to control where your calls are directed,” said Haw.
He says that Gamma partners are selling it as an instantaneous disaster recovery solution for fixed numbers from a mobile device. “Other reseller partners are using the app as a DDI control tool for SIP trunking,” said Haw. “This allows users to control where their number points. For example, they can divert to their mobile, home phone, office phone or send calls to voicemail all via the app. It also includes the display of key call trend metrics such as where calls are coming from and how many calls are getting through, as well as call routing activation options such as sending calls to specific destinations.”
The app will be available on Apple iOS, Google’s Android, RIM’s BlackBerry OS and Nokia’s Symbian OS. According to Haw the app has countless benefits for

users and resellers. “From a reseller viewpoint the benefits are great,” said Haw. “As an Internet marketing tool the app promotes product brand and credibility and effectively links fixed and mobile telephony. It reaches end user audiences quickly and effectively, improves the customer experience and loyalty. And by keeping up with the latest trends in electronics the app provides resellers with the accessibility and convenience needed to promote their business. It also uses the desirability of the ‘latest thing’ to put a reseller’s business in the forefront of potential customers’ minds and, as it’s a very sticky product, it has the potential to reduce churn and improve margins.”

The app will be available to the channel later this month and Haw says resellers are already banging on the door. “Our resellers are impressed with the demos and can’t wait to get hold of it,” said Haw. “There are more apps in the pipeline. The next one will be a FMC app’ related to our new MVNO.”
