To help counter the alarming proportions of childhood obesity in the UK, Pineapple Leisure is launching Jump Gym – an infl atable fi tness facility offering 12 activities for children. At the same time, the Jump Gym programme also
provides interactive sessions, using hand puppets Francesca and Frederick, who teach children the importance of healthy nutrition in a fun way. Jump Gym is the brainchild of Sharon Hadley-
Ford, mother of two girls and director of Pineapple Leisure. She was concerned about the decline of school PE lessons and sports days, and the lack of opportunities for children to play outdoors. The giant infl atable was designed by the whole Hadley-Ford family and aims to encourage jumping, hopping, stretching, climbing, crawling, throwing, and more. Jump Gym is now available UK-wide and can be used in schools, nurseries, sports centres, community centres and village halls, with classes designed for pre-schoolers (three to fi ve years), juniors (six to eight) and seniors (nine to 11). Under the business model, owner operators can set up their own facility using the Jump Gym equipment and receiving start-up training. All Jump Gym classes combine a weekly sports theme with a weekly fresh food, such as ‘Skipping and Strawberries’. A weekly recipe is posted and the children are encouraged to go away and eat the healthy food of the week.

As part of its ongoing pledge to lighten the company’s global footprint, Life Fitness has created a ‘Green to Go’ initiative to develop sustainable solutions. In line with this
promise, a new hybrid energy-saving feature, which will work in conjunction with the Elevation Series Engage Cross-Trainers and Lifecycle exercise bikes, has been launched. T e new hybrid
products will switch automatically from electric to self-generated power when a user reaches a certain intensity level in the workout, lowering the energy draw from the console by more than 75 per cent. When a person is working at a high enough resistance level and revolutions per minute (RPM), a green hybrid icon will appear, telling the user that they are helping to power the machine. T e machine’s
workout summary will also show users how much energy was saved during their workout. Life Fitness also
off ers energy-saving options on its consumer products as well. T e just-introduced F1 Smart consumer treadmill off ers an energy-saving feature, which automatically puts the treadmill into energy-saver mode after workouts, lowering energy use by 90 per cent.
