Our Board Members continued
Nancy Guzman - Director. In her past lives, Nancy has served as the Director of Programming for the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce, Membership/
Administrative Coordinator for the Charlottesville Venture Group, as well as being part of creating Latin American divisions for a local law firm that included translating, interpreting and creating sister offices in the Northern Virginia and Baltimore areas. Nancy has also served as an interpreter for the Albemarle County court system. Currently, she is enjoying spending time with her six children/stepchildren, three of which are being homeschooled. She and her husband own a sub-contracting construction business in which she is able to provide the back-office support from home. Nancy is passionate about providing her children with a wide range of cultural activities and is thrilled at the prospect of helping make this dream possible for many other children in the regional area through her continuing contact with the local Latin American population.
Chris Holden - Director. Chris Holden is co-founder and Managing Partner of Court Square Ventures, LLC, a venture capital firm focusing on early-stage investments
in digital media, communications, and information technology. Chris began his career as an advertising copywriter and director of television ads and wrote, directed, and/ or produced over 100 ads, television programs and corporate videos. Chris was a founding member of touring and recording band The Blue Dogs, and today plays keyboards with popular folk-rock band SGGL. He was a founding director of the Piedmont Technology Council and the University of Virginia Gateway Advisory board, chaired the Entrepreneurial Village and served on the boards of the Music Resource Center, the Charlottesville/Albemarle Chamber of Commerce, WVPT (VA’s Public Television), and the Martha Jefferson Hospital Foundation. A Virginia native, Chris is a graduate of Woodberry Forest School and Davidson College. He resides near Charlottesville with his wife Meg and three young daughters.
Debra K. (Deb) McMahon - Interim Chair. Debra McMahon is the President and CEO of Scitent, Inc. She received her degree in Pathology from the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed her postdoctoral training in Thrombosis and Hemostasis at UNC Chapel Hill. She worked for several years in medical writing, editing, and instructional design before joining Scitent; she has been with the company since its inception.
Mary P. Reese - Director. Before retiring, Mary was the Assistant Superintendent of the Charlottesville City Schools. She has also served as Director of the Barrett Day
Care Center. Mary focuses much of her attention on volunteer activities. She is president of the Board of Directors of The Senior Center and volunteers with the Wesley Chapel Community Child Care Center, WorkSource Enterprise Board and tutors through the Book Buddies Program.
