Builders Association and the Charlottesville Albemarle Association of Realtors. Alison is an enthusiastic volunteer for many community organizations and events such as : Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic, United Way, Women in Philanthropy, the Bad Pants Bash for UVA Children’s Hospital, Women Who Golf to benefit MACCA and the Pink Ribbon Polo Tournament for the American Cancer Society, to name a few.
J. Alden English - Legal Counsel (Ex-Officio). Mr. English’s practice is concentrated in the areas of real estate transactions, finance, corporate formation and
governance, and mergers and acquisitions. In his real estate practice, he represents developers, lenders, tenants, governmental entities and other clients in a variety of transactions, including the sale, purchase, development, financing, leasing and management of both unimproved land and existing commercial projects. He also represents clients in connection with planned communities, residential subdivisions and mixed-use projects and with respect to conservation easements, real estate tax and easement disputes and other matters. In the corporate area, he handles the formation of corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships and other entities, governance issues, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate finance. Mr. English is a native of Charlottesville.
Anne Fife - Director. Anne Fife brings extensive experience in classical music both as a singer and as a Board member. Having studied voice and composition at The New
England Conservatory of Music and The Juilliard School of Music, Fife performed opera and taught singing for a number of years. She also worked in public relations at the San Francisco Opera and handled special projects for its General Director, Kurt Herbert Adler. She was a founding member of the Board of Directors of The Paramount Theater and continues to serve on its Board. Fife also serves on the Boards of The New England Conservatory of Music, Duke University’s Trinity College of Arts & Sciences, the Ash Lawn Opera Festival, and was a founding committee member of the Charlottesville Chamber Music Festival. She has also served on the Boards of the University of Virginia’s Council for the Arts and Piedmont CASA.
Charles H. (Charlie) Foster, Jr. - Director. Charlie is retired Chairman of LandAmerica Financial Group, Inc., which was based in Richmond Virginia and a
national provider of real estate transaction services. He served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the company from 1991 through 2005, during which time it achieved recognition as a Fortune 500 Company. Born in Wilmington, Delaware, Foster received his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Princeton University and his M.B.A. degree from the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia. He is past president of the American Land Title Association and past chairman
