Elbow drummer Jupp gives Yamaha exclusive interview
THE HIGH-END US manufacturer of DW- branded drums, pedals and hardware has announced the expansion of drum production at its facility in Oxnard, California. The move comes after a review of manufacturing processes and material acquisition that made it possible to increase production at one central location. As part of the restructuring, the company’s Ensenada, Mexico facility will be closed and complete operations, including the DW Performance series, will move to DW’s 80,000-square-foot facility in Oxnard.
ELBOW'S DRUMMER, Jupp, took time out of his schedule recently to record an exclusive series of interviews for Yamaha Download about what’s in store for Elbow as the band is set to launch its fifth studio album, Build a Rocket Boys, on March 7th. The interviews also cover recording of the latest album and, of course, Jupp's use of Yamaha drums. Since the release of Seldom Seen Kid in 2008 and the band's triumph at the Mercury Music prize later that same year, Elbow has become one of the most successful British alternative rock bands of recent years. The Brit and Mercury Music award- winning drummer has been a Yamaha endorser for over ten years and has most recently been seen playing a Yamaha PHX kit in a textured smoke sunburst finished. Filmed at the band's Blueprint Studio, the interview touches on Jupp’s love of Yamaha drums and
is £375 for all lessons and evening events and the organiser recommends that delegates book early to guarantee a space as numbers are extremely limited. “2009’s Ultimate Drum Experience was one of the most informative and exhilarating musical events I’ve been to in years,” commented Vic Firth, whose company is the headline partner.
