Center Sound Series March 5, 12 & 26


Corinthian Yacht Club's Center


Sound Series 2011, sponsored by Fisheries, begins March 5 with the Blakely Rock race quickly followed by Scatchet Head March 12 and Three Tree Point on March 26. These are open to one- design and PHRF fleets, no experience required. First warning is 9:00 am for each race, and wind gods allowing, should be finished by late afternoon. CYCT Gig Harbor Race March 26


The Corinthian Yacht Club of Tacoma


would like to announce the Gig Harbor Race. This is the third of the Harbor Series. This race is open to all boats with a valid PHRF certificate. There will also be a cruising class (Windseekers) which will not have to have a PHRF certificate to race. This race will take place in the Commencement Bay, Delco Passage area with a turning mark near the entrance to Gig Harbor. There is limited overnight moorage available. Meydenbauer Bay Yacht Club invites

Basic Race Management Seminar March 27


This seminar is sponsored by US


SAILING Race Management Committee and US SAILING Area L. It is designed for people with some race committee experience, and newcomers, who wish to become certified under US SAILING's race officer certification program as a US SAILING Club Race Officer. The program will be presented


at Seattle Yacht Club. The topics to be covered include race committee objectives, competition formats, sailing instructions, race committee jobs, race committee equipment, race day preparations, setting the course, starts, during the race, finishing, post-race responsibilities, and scoring. The principal instructor for this


seminar will be Leslie Keller. She will be assisted by Brian Watkins. Brian is a certified club race officer. At the seminar, you will need your


own copy of the Racing Rules of Sailing (“RRS”) and you will be given a copy of Join the Race Committee Team. To prepare for the seminar you should answer the Study Questions, available on the US SAILING website - please bring the questions and your answers with you to the seminar. You can register on the US SAILING
