Bird Room to be officially opened

Last year our new bird room was in full swing by the time early summer had flooded us with baby birds! So this year, before it gets too busy we shall be officially opening the bird room in May which is to be called the Jasmine Room.

Jasmine Clare was a young girl who was pictured playing in the snow in early spring of 2010 in our local paper. Sadly two days later Jasmine had died from meningitis. Jasmine had always loved coming to Secret World and was known by her parents as ‘our little angel’. Hopefully the Jasmine Room will be a place where many birds will get the second chance to take to the wing once more in her memory.

Already the Jasmine Room is busy even during the winter months with birds of all sorts of sizes and species. We have had a juvenile Little Grebe in (they have fabulous feet that look like leaves!) and Sara has found time to give staff some training. She has shown them how physio can be done using an electric toothbrush and exercises which can be given to birds and mammals to help them recover from nerve damage.
