Hedgehog Hotel - no vacancies!

It’s been another very busy Season with underweight hedgehogs. However, with a cold room with individual pens, hedgehogs that have got up to the correct weight have been given hay and dry leaves and gone into hibernation. Checked everyday and left with fresh water and cat biscuits, they will be fine until the spring when they can go home.

I think we should soon get a really good hotel rating, what with the separate hotel rooms, the spa (baths given for hedgehogs with ring worm) and sauna (hedgehogs that are chesty being given vapour baths). But then if too many hedgehogs get to hear about it, we may find that more than the usual 80-100 hedgehogs might start to arrive!

A rare Greenfinch

One of our call outs during the snow was to a greenfinch that was in someone’s garden and not looking very well.

We attended but must admit to some doubt as to whether we would be able to catch the ‘greenfinch’ which turned out to be a parakeet that was quite happy to be ‘rescued’! George was everyone’s favourite until he/she became too fond of Simon and became too protective of him, flying at people who threatened to be an opponent - and biting!

George (er... a greenfinch?) 22

Unclaimed, we were able to find him a home with lots of other parrots and have just recently had a photo of him with one of his new friends!
