higher activity (iodine number), higher VOC adsorpti- on capacity, lower ash, and higher hardness/abrasion resistance, while adding catalytic functionality. Per- formance testing to date has shown a longer effective life for AquaCarb®
1240CAT as compared to com-
petitive alternatives in the marketplace, resulting in reduced replacement frequencies and lower overall life cycle costs.

ilicon Biosystems, S.p.A., a provider of specialized molecular and cell biology technology, has for-
med a U.S. subsidiary operation, Silicon Biosystems, Inc., to be headquartered in San Diego, California. The newly formed business will focus on commercial operations and the development of the North Ameri- can research and clinical diagnostics markets for the company’s DEPArray™ technology platform.
“The formation of our own commercial operation in the U.S. represents a significant step forward for our business,” stated Giuseppe Giorgini, CEO of Silicon Biosystems, S.p.A. “Our DEPArray™ platform will allow clinicians and researchers working to advan- ce personalized medicine in areas such as clinical oncology to identify new biomarkers and improve patient treatment based on genetic information they have previously not had access to. We are excited to begin commercial discussions with thought leaders in the U.S.”
The company’s DEPArray™ technology exploits microelectronics and the principles of dielectro- phoresis to isolate and manipulate cells in a sus- pension matrix. The approach, patented by Silicon
Biosystems, offers the unique possibility of con- trolling individual cells and micro-particles inside a disposable cartridge. The DEPArray™ platform makes it possible to find, sort, select and separate individual cells for further analysis or culturing.

p3 Diamond Technologies, Inc. (sp3), a leading supplier of diamond products, equipment and
services, announced the ability to ship its Model 655 (single-chamber) or Model 665 (dual-chamber) hot filament CVD diamond reactors with an inte- grated power supply that complies with local 380V three-phase electrical systems. The availability of the lower-voltage power supply (342 to 440 VAC) facilitates the adoption of CVD diamond in manufac- turing by eliminating the need for customers to use step-down transformers to implement sp3’s diamond deposition systems in certain countries.
