6. Drs. Mauro Ferrari and Doug Given joined Arrowhead’s Board of Directors, deepening Arrowhead’s scientific and business expertise.
Furthermore, Arrowhead Research has executed an exclusive worldwide license on technology develo- ped by Drs. Wadih Arap and Renata Pasqualini at MD Anderson Cancer Center for use in weight loss and obesity-related metabolic conditions, and that it has launched a new company, Ablaris Therapeutics Inc., to commercialize this platform. Development of the technology is relatively advanced, and manage- ment expects that an initial drug candidate will be in the clinic in 2011. Under the license agreement, Ablaris is not responsible for any direct costs associa- ted with preparing for an initial Phase 1 clinical trial or running the trial.

ustriamicrosystems Full Service Foundry business unit announced a further expansion of its non-
volatile memory portfolio for its 0.35µm process family. The entire EEPROM IP block portfolio now includes 14 non-volatile memories (EEPROM and/ or Flash) starting with small blocks offering 20x8 bit and 64x8 bit memory size, ideally used for trimming purposes ranging to larger size memories with up to 12,5kx32 bit size used for program and/or firmware storage.
Optimized for low power and low voltage appli- cations, the endurance of high reliability and high temperature memories is typically 1 million read/ write cycles at 25° C (77° F) and at least 100k cycles at 125° C (257° F) while data retention is ensured for a minimum of 20 years at 125° C. Supply voltage ranges from 1.2V to 3.6V for read and write comple-
te the key technology features of the new EEPROM blocks.

ayer MaterialScience developed raw materials for wound dressings. Wound dressings based on
Baymedix™ FR are noted for their high mechanical strength, flexibility and biocompatibility. They absorb aqueous fluids like wound secretions quickly before they can escape, and do so without the foams expan- ding. Platilon®
films are skin-friendly, protect wounds
from dirt and microbes, and pro-mote rapid healing. One outstanding characteristic of the foams is their thermoformability. This enables the wound dressings to be preformed for a particular application and to retain their shape for the duration of the treatment. If no particular demands are made on shape, however, the dressings can be supplied in roll form. © BMS
