“Asmuch as nail wraps/veneers have their place in the nail business they will never replace nail art.

“As an award winning nail technician I would look at wraps as the easy way out. If you have the skill to do real nail art it is always preferred by clients, fellow nail technicians and students. Nail art can be very personal to the client and nail technician and is very easy to customise to everyone’s taste and preferred colour. With nail wraps you are limited to what you can create.”

“I think when it comes down to nail wraps Vs nail art there are pros and cons for both.

“Nail wraps achieve really effective and pychedelic designs that would not be achievable by hand to the same level of detail, giving them their place in the nail industry. As much as nail wraps look brilliant and are really effective, their easy application and mass production does not give them the same credibility as nail art. Traditional nail art shows skill and talent and it never stops amazing me when I see something beautiful done by hand.”

“Definitely not. Nail wraps have filled a niche in the nailmarket and are a wonderful product but they cannot achieve some of the results that are created by skilled, talented and artistic nail technicians.

“They cannot mimic the individuality that is achieved by the imaginations of the nail artist. However, their longevity and high shine make them a very attractive alternative to painted nails. A skilled technician/artist will be able to incorporate them into more elaborate design work. They are definitely here to stay in our industry and are an excellent product to give a dramatic finish to the nails without compromising natural nail care.”

“Personally, I do not think that veneers will replace nail art. I think the veneers are great for a short time, but the actual nail art lasts longer.

“Also, the nail art can be done on just a couple of fingers and look great. The veneers tend to be done on all nails, which can be a bit much for most people. They would look silly with only a couple done.

“I also think that nail art itself doesn’t have to be very fussy to impress, therefore it can be a quick way to completely change the look of a nail or polish with minimum time spent, therefore being more cost effective for a salon.”

“I love the new nail veneers. I especially love themonmy toes - and duringmy recent holiday they certainly created a talking point on the beach!

“However, the skill that it takes for a true nail artist to create stunning nail art shouldn’t be understimated.Whilst nail veneers offer a great opportunity for high street salons, a freehand nail art design cannot be beaten.”
